Crested butte - a real colorado mtn town
Hiked from aspen to cb today (locals call it that). Real co mtn town. Just saw a bear running through the streets. Very basic place with a few nice restaurants. Way more authentic than aspen. Kinda telluride before the money.

Couldn't agree more re: Crested Butte. I just got back from a week in Vail and have spent some time in Aspen. Crested Butte rocks. Any town in which the mayor also drives the shuttle to and from the airport is a town for me. No pretension, great people, amazing outdoor activities and much more. If you can get there, go during July 4th weekend. Free concerts in the main town rec area and a first-rate, small town parade through main street. Speaking of hte main drag, a must stop is the Secret Stash. Best pizza in the world. No joke. Try the Mac Daddy, the world's only Big Mac-like pizza. Sounds nasty. Actually amazing. Enjoy the mountains Mark! Great way to blow off the stink and clear the mind and body of all toxins!
