Zinga Zoo Pincus 1995-2008
after a long, strong fight against many cancers zinga passed away yesterday. she died with her head in my lap as i watched her big smile turn into a quiet rest.zinga was 13.5 yrs old. she was the veteran of 4 companies with her face featured in several publications including twice in the nytimes.
zinga had a powerful impact on those she touched, especially when she sat in chairs which never ceased as a crowd pleaser.
zinga was the one constant in my life. when i first got her people said it wouldnt work. a frenetic entrepreneur who is never home should not have a dog. but we adapted to each other. she learned to sleep in chairs and under desks and acquired a taste for restaurant food and small prop planes (esp appreciated since few of my friends would come).
zinga was the mayor of cole valley and counted many admirers including craig newmark of craigslist.
i feel blessed that zinga stayed on the planet for so long. since she beat her first cancer at age 6, i started thanking her nightly for staying here another day. she went on to beat cancer 3 more times.
the most inspiring lesson from zinga was to 'be here now'. no matter how bad her state got she never lost her spirit and will to live.
zinga's spirit and image live on at zynga.com.
half her ashes will be buried alongside my friend tom on aspen mountain. (http://www.aspensnowmassshrines.com/index.php?aid=70) the other half will go to the pet cemetery in the presidio.
anyone interested can send donation in zinga's honor to the amercian bulldgo rescue association http://americanbulldogrescue.org

I had hoped to meet her someday. She looks like a sweetheart, but when it came to cancer she was apparently all fight. So sorry to hear this.

I'm sorry to hear about Zinga, Mark. We said goodbye to Kona, Zinga's Freeloader office mate, when she was almost 15 years old. We're very lucky to have had such special animals in our lives. Take care.

Oh goodness Mark, I'm so sorry to hear this.
As a longtime reader of your blog, I always looked forward to the cute pictures of Zinga doing this or that, eating lunch with you, and so on.
It was clear that you love Zinga very much.

Mark,
So sorry for to hear about Zinga. She was a sweet dog and inspired me to get my Bulldog Gibson seven years ago after my last dog died at 15. I posted some pics of Zinga from the SupportSoft days and made a donation to American Bulldog Rescue.

Really sorry to hear the news from Ali. Moved by your blog post and all the wonderful photos. Naming your company after her was such a personal tribute.
I still need to review a bunch of photos from your wedding. Alas, I don't think I got any good shots of Zinga. However, it is clear that she lives on in so many other ways!

When I heard of this news, I was heartbroken. I know firsthand what it is like to go through the loss of a dog you hold very close to your heart. I was hoping to see her around work someday but I know that she will always be there in spirit.
I wish you and your family all the best during this time and you are in my thoughts.

Laura told me Zinga has passed away, I'm so sorry for your loss, it was a pleasure honouring Zinga in textiles for the piece I made as Laura's wedding gift to you and Alison.
Best wishes and blow her resting places a kiss from Tasmania for me...
